David Hays Releases “The Lord’s Prayer,” Featuring Lonnie Parks and Holly Stewart

David Hays has released “The Lord’s Prayer,” a new recording featuring Lonnie Parks and Holly Stewart. You can hear it below.

The Lord’s Prayer is one of the most familiar prayers in the Christian tradition, and musicians have set it to music for generations. Hays’s rendition leans into the spiritual side of his songwriting — the same honest storytelling that runs through all of his music, turned toward something sacred. It reflects the faith and the choir community that have long been close to his work.

“Music is the great uniter. An incredible force. Something that people who differ on everything and anything else can have in common,” Hays says. It’s a fitting line for a song built on words so many people already know by heart.

The release lands during a full season for Hays. His American Dream project arrived in January 2026, pulling together a wide cast of collaborators — among them Thunder & Rain, Vickie Vaughn, and Lonnie Parks — on the back of nationwide radio play. The single “Citizen” gave listeners an early taste of that sound, and “The Lord’s Prayer” carries the run forward.
